Event Summary 2009
Face painting, catchy tunes, and delicious food were just a few of the many reasons that
crowds made their way down to Main Street on August 22, 2009 to take part in the
inaugural Taste of Main Event. It was a terrific day of food and fun for attendees of all
ages.
The Taste of Main Passport offered attendees choices of samplings of fine cuisine from
critically acclaimed restaurants including Bis on Main, Monsoon East, and 520 Bar and
Grill. Gilbert’s, T’Latte, and Emerald Smoothie were just a few of the many who served
refreshing beverages and sweet tooths were treated at Fran’s and Amore Chocolates. As
participants tasted their way down Main Street, boutiques and businesses offered special
sales, beautiful giveaways, and of course fun activities for all. Moms and daughters were
overjoyed at Posh where they indulged in Cosmos and Pretty Toes and it was fun for
everyone in the Spot off Main parking lot where they explored SWAT cars and police
vehicles. A stunning silent auction was offered with participants bidding on highly coveted
items including Hotel getaways and beautiful jewelry. Sounds of the Magazine Band and
other local artists could be heard from afar as they entertained crowds throughout the day.
As the sun set on Old Bellevue and the crowds began to thin, it was agreed by all that the
event was a success. The inaugural event brought crowds of over 500 and raised over
$17,000 in support for the Children’s Response Center and will be an annual event for the
Eastside Community.
