The following comprehensive services are available through Children' s Response Center for children, youth, families, and the community. Direct services are focused on those impacted by sexual victimization and victimization by other forms of abuse, crime, or traumatic events. Prevention education and community outreach services are focused on abuse and violence reduction within the broader community.
Crisis Intervention in-person plus 24-hour availability by telephone. Provide support and information to stabilize the situation for individuals and families affected by sexual assault or a traumatic event.
Information and Referral in response to requests from victims, families and service providers for information and assistance.
Abuse and Trauma-Specific Therapy for individuals and families to address significant or persistent psychological distress, including Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, adjustment reactions and depression.
Group Sessions for children, youth and parents dealing with sexual assault recovery and prevention.
Legal Advocacy for individuals and families involved in the court system for reasons related to abuse or criminal victimization.
Medical Advocacy and coordination of medical exams to evaluate sexual abuse, including documentation for possible court and child protection action.
Systems Advocacy to improve service delivery and options provided by institutions, programs, legal systems and other social service providers through individual advocacy and coordination of services.
Consultation to other professionals and service providers for cases involving child sexual abuse and victims of other trauma.
Education and Community Outreach through such coordinated programs as the Sexual Abuse In-service for Professionals and the Partners for a Healthier Community initiative. Additional presentations are provided to community groups upon request.
Prevention focused on information and awareness, social change, and skill building.
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) for families referred from DCFS or The Court.
Who We Serve
- Children and youth under the age of 18 who are victims of sexual assault, or suspected sexual victimization, or who demonstrate sexual behavior problems.
- Children and youth under the age of 18 who have been traumatized by other events both crime and non-crime related.
- Non-offending family members.
- Residents of East and North King County.
