Kathy Captain - Vice President & Relationship Manager, Evergreen Bank
Kathy Captain moved to Bellevue as a teenager and attended the University of Washington graduating with a degree in Economics. She has lived on the Eastside for 22 years and worked in the banking industry as a lender to small and medium sized business owners. Kathy has been married for 28 years and has been blessed with a daughter and son ages 20 and 15. Kathy is passionate about developing deep relationships with her friends and customers in order to live a more connected life in this world that often finds us disconnected and isolated.
Jan Clausen
Jan Clausen is originally from San Francisco, and has been an Eastside resident since 2002. She comes to CRC with over twenty years of professional experience in the high tech industry. Employed by Microsoft since 2005, Jan currently serves as the Senior Group Manager of Online Safety & Security and views supporting CRC as a natural extension of her role within Microsoft. Jan’s team is focused on keeping Microsoft Online properties and services safe for children, customers and the community at large.
With the rapid adoption of the Internet and Social Networking, Jan feels that it has never been more important to manage the crossroads where technology meets humanity. Being on the Advisory Board for CRC enables her to bring her network and unique skills in sales, marketing, partner management and online safety to the table to focus on prevention and education, as well as fundraising.
"The timing is right for me to take on a more active role in the community and I am interested in supporting Children’s Response Center in particular," says Jan. "Keeping children safe is extremely important to me, and I feel I can contribute to supporting the services CRC provides to the community."
In addition to her career in high-tech, Jan is a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist and Hypnotherapist and has worked with adult survivors of childhood abuse.
Judy Feinerman
Judy Feinerman is a Portland, Oregon native and received her B.S. in Journalism and Advertising from the University of Oregon. Her graduate degree in Education is from UCLA. Judy has lived in the Bellevue/Issaquah area since 1981. Her work has included positions as an Advertising Copywriter in Los Angeles, for retail establishments, advertising agencies and the Wall St. Journal. She was a substitute teacher for the Los Angeles and Beverly Hills school Districts, and also was a head preschool teacher at the Mercer Island Jewish Community Center. Judy has been a substitute teacher for the Issaquah School district since 1997, and is also the Marketing & Sales Representative for Substitute Online, Inc., a software system dealing with school district daily staffing operations. Judy has one son, who graduated from Stanford University and is now living and working in Los Angeles.
Judy's keen interest in children, their welfare and their educational growth has led her to this position on the CRC Advisory Board, and she is honored to be part of such a vibrant organization.
Katherine Cooper Franklin
Ms. Franklin is an experienced litigator and trial attorney, representing employers in wrongful discharge and discrimination litigation for more than 23 years. Ms. Franklin has successfully advised clients in the implemen-tation and maintenance of proactive employment practices. She has extensive experience investigating harass-ment, workplace discrimination for both public and private agencies.
Ms. Franklin has vast experience training executives and managers in the implementation and maintenance of proactive, problem preventive employment practices. For years, she has focused her practice on interactive training programs designed to minimize employment litigation. Ms. Franklin has also prepared, designed and implemented Gender Bias Training for Washington attorneys. During her career, Ms. Franklin has trained thousands of public and private sector managers and employees.
In partnership with the Washington State Department of Personnel, Littler Mendelson created an extensive and comprehensive training program, known as the HELP Academy, designed to train state managers and human resource professionals. Ms. Franklin and the attorneys in the Seattle office have trained hundreds of managers and human resources professionals on all aspects of employment law through this unique program. Each year the Council of State Governments identifies the best new and creative approaches to significant state problems in their Innovations Awards. The Council of State Governments recently awarded the HELP Academy Littler Mendelson created with the 1999 Innovations Award for the Academy's proactive way of addressing the alarm-ing increase in human resource-related conflicts, litigation and liability.
Ms. Franklin started the Seattle office of Littler Mendelson and served as the managing shareholder for three years. She then took on the position of Director of Learning for Employment Law Learning Technologies (ELT) along with her attorney responsibilities. Ms. Franklin now works full time as a shareholder in the Seattle office. Prior to joining Littler, Ms. Franklin worked as a law clerk with the University of Washington Division of the Attorney General's Office.
Deborah Feldman - Reporter, King 5 Television
Deborah Feldman works as a reporter and fill-in anchor at NBC affiliate KING 5 News. She joined the Seattle station as a general assignment reporter in 1999. Before joining KING-TV, Deborah was a weekend anchor and general assignment reporter for KREM-TV (CBS) in Spokane, WA, from 1996 to April 1999. Before moving to Washington state, Deborah worked as a health and general assignment reporter at WLBZ-TV (NBC) in Bangor, ME.
Deborah's work has garnered her half a dozen Emmy Nominations and numerous awards from the Regional Radio-Television News Directors Association, the Associated Press and the Society of Professional Journalists. Her stories cover a range of topics from breaking news, to features, to in-depth reporting.
Deborah's first interaction with the Children's Response Center was when she interviewed one of the social workers on the staff for a news report. She feels honored to be joining the Advisory Board in 2009, and says she's eager to offer any assistance that helps ensure critical services are available and accessible when children and their families are in crisis.
Deborah holds a Bachelor's degree in History and English from Tufts University and a Master's degree in Broadcast Journalism from Columbia University School of Journalism. She is married and has two young children.
Diane Hirt - Health & Productivity Strategy Analyst, Nordstrom, Inc.
Diane Hirt, a Senior Benefits Analyst for Nordstrom, is a working mother and a 29-year resident of East King County. She helps find ways to improve the health and productivity of employees and guides her team to determine how they can focus and refine their business strategy and processes. Diane's business background includes experience in human resources and benefits administration for the insurance, public television and retail industries. She has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, local senior centers and actively works with the American Cancer Society to promote disease prevention. Having adopted her son through the Washington State foster care system, Diane knows personally how important it is to provide comprehensive services and support for the children and families within our communities.
Amy Lang - Sexual Health Educator, Owner, Birds + Bees + Kids
Amy Lang, MA has a 16-year history as a Sexual Health Educator. She has provided sexual health education to adults and teenagers on pretty much every aspect of sexual health - from abortion to herpes zosters and everything in between. In addition, she has a Masters degree in Applied Behavioral Science from Bastyr University/Leadership Institute of Seattle. Amy's area of expertise is adult education, coaching and training.
Amy is passionate about sexual health education and became aware that young people are not getting the information when they need it (i.e. very early in childhood) nor from the people they most need to hear it from, their parents. A parent herself, she started Birds + Bees + Kids to help other parents and caregivers start and continue conversations about sexuality, love and relationships with their children.
Helen Lee
Helen Lee lives in Bellevue and has spent most of her life here, beginning in the mid-1980’s. She grew up in Medina where her mother still lives and has strong ties to that community. Helen recently participated in the significant restoration of a historical community store in Medina, belonging to her mother.
Helen earned her BA from the University of Washington and began working for a local investment advisory company. As a Financial Advisor and Certified Financial Planner®, now at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney in downtown Bellevue, she helps her clients navigate their personal courses toward achieving their financial planning and wealth management goals.
Helen has a strong desire to leave a legacy in the community and to give back to those in need. “I want to dedicate as much of my spare time as I’m able to give, to support causes that are dear to me, in my community,” says Helen. At the Children’s Response Center, Helen will put her strong leadership, fundraising, special events and networking skills to work, helping to accomplish our goals. In her spare time, Helen enjoys music, gardening and hiking.
Ahinsa Mansukhani - Product Planner, Microsoft Co.
Ahinsa Mansukhani is a Product Planner in Microsoft's Business Division. She recently relocated to the Seattle area from Toronto, Ontario after earning a Bachelor of Mathematics in Honors Math & Business with a specialization in Finance from the University of Waterloo. Along with her mathematics expertise, Ahinsa also brings extensive experience managing high-end, large scale, fundraising and corporate events - including an annual event with over 75,000 attendees. The Children's Response Center's focus on at-risk children is an area that she is passionate about and she is eager to be involved and, through the CRC, help to positively impact children on the Eastside.
Adrienne Nordland - Audit Manager, Sweeney Conrad
Adrienne graduated from the University of Washington in June 1998 with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. She obtained her CPA certification in 2001 and has worked in the Audit Department at Sweeney Conrad, P.S. in Bellevue since 2000. Adrienne has been a Manager since 2004 and provides audit, accounting and financial advisory services to privately held businesses and their owners. She serves clients in a multitude of industries including real estate, lodging, commercial printing, newspaper publishing, recycling/composting, agricultural, not-for-profit organizations, professional services, and employee benefit plans.
Adrienne has been involved with various non-profit organizations over the years both as a volunteer and serving as a Treasurer on a Board of Directors. She is married, has two young children, and lives and works on the eastside. She is passionate about organizations that help children and feels it is a privilege to be involved with Children's Response Center and be able to do her part in supporting such a worthy cause.
Sean Patrick O'Donnell
Sean grew up on the Eastside and has strong ties to the community in which CRC serves children. He currently works as a Sr. Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in the King County Prosecutor's Office. Sean's experience includes approximately 75+ felony jury trials involving homicide, rape, child molestation, assault, kidnapping and human trafficking. He is currently assigned to the Special Assault Unit, which emphasizes prosecution of sex and child abuse cases. Sean's Honors include being recognized for his work by the King County Council for achieving the first Human Trafficking conviction in Washington State; he was Co-recipient of the King County Bar Association's award for "Outstanding Lawyer of the Year 2004;" and he was on the first place team for Seattle University School of Law Mock Trial Competition (1999 through 2001).
Since 2009, Sean has served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of Washington where he is assigned to the Terrorism and Violent Crimes section.
Sean's education includes: J.D. cum laude, Seattle University School of Law, 2001 and B.A. cum laude, English and Government, Georgetown University, 1994.
Sean's passion for children's issues lead him to serve on the Board of CRC where he can continue his partnership with CRC's Legal Advocates and continue to make a positive impact in the community.

Rachel Quesinberry - Marketing Coordinator, PCL Construction Services, Inc.
Rachel has been a volunteer for the Children's Response Center for 14 years. The work and mission of the CRC is very dear to her heart because her daughter could have used their services when she was 12. As an adult, Rachel's daughter became a CRC volunteer first and because of her, Rachel became a volunteer and later joined the Board. As a previous Board Member, Rachel co-chaired one of CRC's Annual Luncheons and was involved in many CRC fundraising events.
Five years ago, she temporarily left Seattle because her current employer, PCL Construction Services, re-located her to Honolulu. When Rachel returned to the Seattle area, she was assigned to a project in Tukwila. Now she is back in Bellevue and is excited to resume her involvement with CRC. Rachel's entire working career has been in the Administrative field working for PCL and the IBM Corporation. CRC has been a recipient of several charitable events that PCL sponsored. CRC clients have also benefited from PCL's Holiday Season Adopt-a-Family program.
Jason Shindler - CEO, Curvine Web Solutions
Jason Shindler is the owner of Curvine Web Solutions. He has 9 years of experience developingWeb applications and Web sites for businesses of all sizes. During his career, he has worked in many organizational settings including work for Universities, municipalities and large private businesses. He is proficient in many different Web application platforms, including Microsoft's ASP and ASP.NET platforms, PHP, Java and Perl.
Jason is a graduate of the University of Florida. He completed a Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications in 2001, with an outside concentration in Computer Science. When not developing Web sites, Jason teaches at synagogue Religious schools and is a member of the Children's Response Center Advisory Board. He has been a member of the CRC Board since 2005, and joined to help support the community his business operates in.
Nancy Weinstein
Nancy Weinstein received her Masters in Education in Counseling Psychology from Boston College. For the past thirty-eight years, she has served in the field of education. Nancy began her career as an elementary classroom and special education teacher, and later worked as a counselor and school psychologist in elementary, middle school, and high school. After sixteen years as an administrator, she retired from her last position as principal of Discovery Elementary in the Issaquah School District in 2008.
Throughout her professional career, as well as in her personal life, Nancy has encountered many young children and teenagers who have been victims of sexual abuse and has witnessed the chaos and hurt that abuse leaves in its wake. Therefore, when presented the opportunity to serve on the CRC Nancy decided it was a worthy investment of her time to support the Children's Response Center. She also assists with projects of Trilogy for Kids and enjoys her leisure time playing golf, bridge, glass fusing, and especially enjoys traveling.
Gayle Zawaideh
Gayle Zawaideh has raised three wonderful children and has worked in the Real Estate business for over 25 years. She is currently the co-owner of John L. Scott, Whidbey Island North in Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island. Gayle joined the CRC Advisory Board in 1998. In the past decade Gayle's work on the Board has included serving as the Board Chair, Fundraising Committee Chair, member of the Speakers Bureau, Chair of fundraising luncheons and active participant in all CRC fundraisers. She has served as a Legislative Advocate and committee member of the Washington Coalition of Sexual Assault programs. Gayle frequently travels to Olympia as a legislative advocate representing CRC on legislative issues regarding children and sexual assault, which speaks to her strong interest in government affairs. Gayle says, "I believe that we are gifted with the opportunity to make a difference in others' lives, especially children, who are the most trusting and vulnerable."
